CUA students and faculty presented CUA research, demos, and labs to visiting high school students from Brighton High School in the first EngageCUA Open House at Harvard.

Wolfgang Ketterle gave a talk on his research, after which we had many demos.

Nik and Taz (from the Yelin group) helped students make spectroscopes and explore the optical spectra of various light sources. Jonah (from the Yelin group) and Ben (from the Vuletic group) demonstrated the effects of glucose on the polarization of light.

Michal (from the Greiner group) and Carter (from the Zwierlein group) showed students a superconducting disk levitating above magnets. Anant (from the Greiner group) revealed radiation to students using a cloud chamber.

Haley (from the Semeghini group) and Matteo (from the Doyle group) gave a tours of their labs.

Over lunch, Michal demonstrated the Leidenfrost effect with the leftover liquid nitrogen. After lunch, a panel of post-bacc students discussed their career paths so far.

Thanks to our many volunteers for providing a peek into the CUA to the summer students!
